- Additional step in installation
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- If you are installing Norton Confidential from a CD or from a file that you
- downloaded, there is an additional step in install that does not appear in the
- User Guide. After step 3, in which you review and accept the license agreement,
- the next panel contains an alert about installing Norton Confidential with other
- security software. Because Norton Confidential installs a toolbar in Internet
- Explorer, some types of security software may think that spyware is being
- installed and warn you about it. The alert explains that you should allow the
- installation to continue.
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Order of installation for Symantec products
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- The following products integrate with one another and use shared components:
-
- Norton AntiVirus
- Norton Confidential
- Norton Internet Security
- Norton Personal Firewall
- Norton SystemWorks
-
- If you need to install two or more of these products from different product
- release years, install them in chronological order. For example, first install
- Norton AntiVirus 2005, and then install Norton Confidential. If
- Norton Confidential is already installed on your computer, you should uninstall
- it, install Norton AntiVirus 2005, and then reinstall Norton Confidential.
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Installing on Microsoft XP, service pack 1 or earlier
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- If you install Norton Confidential over another Norton product labeled "2005" and
- have installed it on Windows XP SP1 or earlier, you will see some functional
- problems with the product. For example, you will not be able to turn on Auto
- Protect. To resolve this issue, you must upgrade your version of Windows XP to
- SP2. You do not need to uninstall and reinstall Norton Confidential in order to
- perform the upgrade.
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Accessibility - High Contrast
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- If you need to set your computer to High Contrast, Windows XP offers
- a number of ways to do so. For best results viewing your Norton product
- windows and Help content, use the Windows XP Control Panel
- Accessibility Options. The High Contrast option is found on the
- Display tab page of the Accessibility Options dialog box.
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Norton Confidential and the Yahoo! toolbar
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- If you have uninstalled the Yahoo! Internet Explorer toolbar after installing
- Norton Confidential, you will need to restart your computer for the Norton
- Toolbar to appear as an option in the Internet Explorer View > Toolbars menu.
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Password Security and AOL Messenger
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Password Security does not save or fill in your AOL Messenger login because it
- does not recognize AOL's Screen Name and Password fields as standard login fields.
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Other third-party acknowledgments
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Portions of this product contain code licensed from Terra Informatica Software
- Inc., which is based in part on the work of the Independent JPEG Group.
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Exporting your InfoVault data
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- If your Norton Confidential subscription expires, you can still access your
- InfoVault data by exporting it to an unencrypted comma-delimited file using
- the COExport tool. By default, the tool is installed in the following directory
- on your hard drive:
-
- \Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\coShared\CIM\1.0
-
- Double-click the COExport icon (COExport.exe) and provide your InfoVault password
- when prompted.
